2nd Annual Celebrate Petworth 3x3 Basketball Championship

Petworth jump starts the summer with a Championship 3-on-3 youth basketball tournament on June 4th, 10am-4pm, at the Petworth Rec Center as part of the Celebrate Petworth festival. This free annual event invites players of all ages to participate. Winning teams with at least one middle school, high school or female student, will be eligible to win cash scholarships.
This is a fun chance for anyone who enjoys basketball to come out and play. Whether you play on a school team or just with pickup games in your neighborhood, you are welcome to participate.
Tournament Details
Date/Time: June 4, 2016 10 am to 4 pm
Location: Petworth Recreation Center at 8th and Taylor Streets NW
Participants Age: Players of all ages are welcome. Scholarships will be awarded to student-led teams for the following ages: Middle school age, 11-13; High school age, 14-18; Female student age, 11-18.
Eligibility:
There are three team categories:
- Best high school student-led team, ages 14-18
- Best female student-led team, ages 11-18
- Best middle school student-led team, ages 11-13
Adults are welcome to participate; winning team must have at least one qualifying player.Individuals / Pick-up teams welcome. All award eligible students must be enrolled in school.
Tournament Rules:
- This 3x3 basketball tournament will follow “King-of-the-court” rules.
- First to 21 or high score after 20 minutes of play.
- Halfcourt Teams may use substitutes before start of play; participants may only play for one team.
- Ones and Twos Scoring: (One point for field goals inside the arc, two points for outside.)
- Format may change based on player consensus.
Cash Scholarships awarded to the winning team’s student athletes.
Winning team will also have photo displayed at the Taylor Street Field House.
